Sheryl has more than 25 years of experience in human resources. She is the author of Making It Work: Managing Your Health Condition Through ADA Workplace Accommodations and a recognized expert in Title I of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Sheryl specializes in the following:

Sheryl has provided HR services in various industries, including nonprofits, communications, IT, hospitality, and manufacturing. She has worked with businesses ranging in size from start-ups to medium-sized companies. Sheryl has taught ADA Compliance Training for employers, employees, law students, vocational rehabilitation counselors, and ADA Coordinators for the ADA National Network, the American Bar Association, Mitchell Hamline School of Law, and private employers. Sheryl has been interviewed on many Podcasts about Workplace Accommodations, including ADA Live! and the World Institute on Disability.
Sheryl is a Certified Professional in Human Resources with expertise in regulations and legal mandates specific to the state of California (PHRca) and a Certified Human Resources Professional (SHRM-CP) through the Society of Human Resources Management. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in business administration from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, and her master's degree in Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX.
She is also a Certified ADA Coordinator (ADAC) through the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program (ACTCP), a program administered by the Great Plains ADA Center and overseen and issued by the University of Missouri College of Human and Environmental Sciences, School of Architectural Studies. In addition, Sheryl is a Certified Leave Management Specialist through the Disability Management Employer Coalition (DMEC). Sheryl also has her Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate through the USF Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education.
Based on her professional and personal experience, Sheryl published her first two books, Making It Work: Managing Your Health Condition Through ADA Workplace Accommodations and Making It Work: Employee Workbook (2020, update 2021). Through her writing, Sheryl demonstrates her passion for helping employees and employers understand how to apply the ADA to a workplace accommodation situation and how employees can research, request, and negotiate an accommodation with their employer while successfully managing their health condition and being productive employees. The book is also designed to be used by employers, advocates, attorneys, and vocational rehabilitation specialists to help employees with the accommodation process. The workbook is designed to help the employee and employer analyze the individual's position, limitations, and challenges and help the individual find the most effective accommodation for their situation.
